Superfood Smoothie: Tasty, Quick and Healthy

Superfood Smoothie

Superfood smoothies are made by adding to a smoothie a superfood ingredient(s) that are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and numerous other substances with health benefits. With a few basic superfoods you can prepare the most delicious and nutritious smoothies in an instant. Because you can play with the ingredients and mix them in wany different combinations, creating superfood smoothies can be a lot of fun. For tools you will only need a Blender, a knife and a cutting board. And of course the ingredients: fruit, superfoods, sweeteners (if needed), herbs and/or leafy green.

What are superfoods?

Superfoods is a collective name for high-quality food with an extra high content of nutrients, antioxidants and phytonutrients. In addition to the enormous high nutritional value, superfoods have many other properties that are good for your health. Most of the suprefoods that are offered in the store are organic, raw and they are often harvested in areas where the soil is not depleted. There are different types of superfoods, such as mushrooms, wild herbs, fruit, seeds, food with certain good fatty acids, germs and grains. Superfoods are not always exotic. Ordinary foods, such as broccoli, ginger and turmeric, are also covered by superfoods.

Different superfoods each have their own qualities. For example, there are superfoods that have aphrodisiacal (stimulating) qualities and others that have a rejuvenating effect or strengthen your bones. Superfoods can also help you lose weight. It sounds almost too simple to be true: without having to think about it, you automatically reach your goal weight by using saturated superfood smoothies daily. In an era, when the quality of our food is often questioned, it seems that eating superfoods is not so much a fashion, but rather a necessary step forward.

Why Smoothies?

Superfoods are often sold in the form of freeze or dried powders. As you can imagine, eating a dry powder does not sounds very tasty. A delicious smoothie where you put superfood (powders) in is therefore one of the quickest and easiest ways to get the good nutrients and to refill any shortages. You get a multitude of minerals and vitamins in a smoothie meal that support your body processes and protect it from inside.

For a saturated feeling that will last for a few hours, you will need about two large glasses of smoothie to replace a meal. For example, you can replace breakfast or lunch with smoothies and then have a regular dinner meal. You can replace also multiple meals per day with superfood smoothies and have a good health. However, do not forget that replacing all meals with smoothie might be an overkill.

Superfood versus supplements

People have been using supplements for decades for a variety of reasons. However, 95% of all vitamins available in stores contain exclusively or mainly synthetic ingredients. Superfoods are 100% natural foods. They are usually of biological origin, easily digestible and highly nutritious. Superfoods are not food supplements, but rather natural foods that contain a lot of minerals, vitamins, proteins, fatty acids, antioxidants and other nutrients. Superfoods are raw: not cooked, baked or heated in any other way. This means that it is living food where all life force and all enzymes are still intact.

Tips to make the best Superfood Smoothie

  • Fluid that make your Superfood Smoothies thinner include fruit juice, water, nut milk and coconut water.
  • Ingredients that make your superfood smoothie thicker include dates, coconut oil, avocado, banana, baobab, apple, Hemp seed, Chia seed, and Psyllium fibers. All superfood powders make the smoothie thicker.
  • Make creamy smoothies with avocado, banana, fresh coconut, mango, unroasted cashews, almond milk or rice milk.
  • If your smoothie is too sweet, you can add lemon, water or green leafy green.
  • Eat your smoothie as soon as possible after preparation to prevent discoloration and deterioration of the taste. Just prepared fresh smoothie contains also all the nutrients. So do not wait too long with enjoying drinking it. Smoothies can be stored in a sealed cup in the refrigerator for two to three days.
